Laser cutting technology is a thermal method of splitting materials, increasingly used in the industry. This is cutting method, depending on the needs and a type of device, may be conducted by sublimation (go directly from the solid to the gaseous state – without the intermediate liquid state), melting or burning, at the same time, the standard is to combine all of these ways to cutting into one complex method.
According to the definition, laser cutting should be identified as a “spot introduction of energy in a form of high-energy cutting flux”, i.e. a laser beam. A main advantage of using it is to obtain a product suitable for further processing without the necessity of applying additional technological processes. The fact that determines on a quality and an extent of keeping dimensions of cut construction elements, consists in an ultra-high accuracy of guiding the laser cutting beam and a high quality of laser cutting machines. The use of this type of machines guarantees high resistance to vibration as well as exceptionally good repeatability in the treatment of successive elements.
Currently, laser technology is used not only for cutting metallic materials, but also for cutting other types of raw materials. Laser is enables its user to cut non-alloy and high-alloy steel, aluminium, titanium, plastics, wood, ceramics etc.
